What are these technical solutions?
SPINDLE SOLUTIONS
The collaboration between CMS and HITECO led to the introduction of a new electrospindle with ISO40 automatic tool change (+25% power, 3X torque compared to the previous generation) capable of handling both large cutting discs and smaller tools that require high rotation speeds (12000 rpm).
CMS asked HITECO to implement two typical features of CMS spindles: through-spindle cooling and hydraulic release.
Through-spindle cooling
The powerful electrospindle is fully cooled by the process water as it passes through, a solution designed to ensure the best cooling, and therefore maximum performance and durability, at all times in any environmental conditions during use. (flows A and B in the diagram)
Hydraulic release
A hydraulic power unit in the machine provides constant pressure and ensures high force and precision to actuate the petal collet.
It prevents tool release failures and ensures a continuous fabrication process even with dirty or rusted toolholders.
WORKTABLE SOLUTIONS
Multifunction machining centers must be able to perform both cutting on a "martyr" machining table, and edging and milling with the workpiece clamped to an aluminum table by suction cups.
The conversion between cutting table and aluminum table results in loss of productivity, and must therefore take as little time as possible. For this reason, CMS has adopted a solution based on a roll-up cutting mat, which is held by special mechanical tensioners secured to the aluminum table structure.
The conversion is done by hand in just a few minutes without special tools, does not need the overhead crane to be available, and does not require additional off-machine storage space.
