For this reason, touch probing to detect the thickness of the slab plays a fundamental role, especially in the case of inclined cuts, because it allows you to control the cut with great precision as the thickness varies during advancement.
CMS machines can perform touch probing in two ways: continuously, keeping the probe in constant contact with the surface of the slab during processing, or with discontinuous probing during cutting, performed at regular intervals set by the operator.
This feature can be further customized when working with particularly delicate materials, such as marble and high-value natural stone, where even a small scratch or slight imperfection caused by processing on the surface can compromise the entire piece.
By setting preventive touch probing, the machine will perform it in a timed manner before cutting and therefore with the surface of the piece still clean, thus preventing abrasive grains from getting between the probe and the surface itself, ruining it.
The risk of damage is therefore reduced without sacrificing the maximum quality of the piece produced.
